Default charcoal canister

What exactly is the purpose/function of this canister in front of the driver side wheel? Does it need servicing and is it servicable?

Thanks

IMO.... It takes fumes out of the gas tank and stores them in the canister, and when driving, vacuum from the intake sucks the fumes into combustion chamber.

Just for fun, could a code 32 be caused by a malfunctioning charcoal canister?

Not likely. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere. Or you just may have a bad EGR.
