Default C68 electronic climate control question

everything seems to work except that switching from vent to heat does not change the airflow location. I have the dash partially disassembled and I can see that the vacuum controlled door that would close the center dash outlet with the heat selected does not do so. The vacuum hoses are connected and the vacuum actuators appear to hold vacuum. Could it be the programmer? I'm going to take a look at it and maybe resolder some of the connections.

Oh yeah, it's an '88. Just got back from the garage where I reflowed all the solder joints on the programmer. It seems to work now. I'll have a more complete test in the morning.

A bad connection on the big PCB contact strip in the back my be possible.....what joints did you reflow exactly?

The C68 control heads are problematic with their connectors and solder joints.....I've been working a DIY repair write up for the C68 which allows you to eliminate the most common trouble spot....the finger contacts inside big white connector. The white connector cover can be remove with little trouble if you attack it at each end then the contact fingers can be soldered to the big PCB inside the main body of the unit.....here is a sneak peak at the finished soldered connector that I did a few years back....see pics below. Note: these are 2 different units one is an '88 and one is and '89....the unit with the white connector is unmodified..it is an '88 - the unit without the white clip is soldered to the main PCB card this unit is an '89. This '89 unit has had no issues what-so-ever and performs as it should since my repair.
I thought it would be a good idea to do a write up since the C68 issues had been popping up back in Nov/Dec so I'd remove the unit and document what I had done to mine......since I had my dash apart replacing the cig lighter socket.

If your climate control won't switch over from heater / Defroster to vents, It's most likely one of two problems.

First....does your cruise control work ? If not, replace the three way vacuum check valve on the right side of the engine.

If your cruise control does work, It's most likely the vacuum programmer connector (Above the gas pedal ) Do a search on Vacuum programmer.

See post #3.

It appears that it works. I took the programmer apart last night and reflowed all the solder joints on the backside.
