Sit for 2 months, then start worrying
I have an 89 stock conv. w/ 6sp. Replaced injectors w/ ford pink tops, MPG dropped significantly but thats a whole nother topic.
The last time driven was about (2) months ago, no problems.
Last week took it out for a drive and when I slowed down to go over a speed bump, I hear a loud creaking/scrapping noise coming from beneath the trunk area around the rear end. Every time the rear suspension is significantly compressed, I hear the same noise. I looked underneath the car and there is nothing obvious
.The car has been locked in heated garage, started but not driven. When I push up and down manually, its quiet, I hear it when driving over bumps and driveway thresholds. The car only has 30,000 miles on it, and exhaust system looks fine.
Air temp was 35 ish at the time (NE NY).
Should I change the shocks/ball joints already?
Has anyone had similar trouble and found a fix?
I don't know how to go about finding the source.
Thanks Much for your help and a great forum
