There was some talk on Speedtalk about the block. It is legit. One poster seemed to think there are more than 10 out there. But they hardly ever show up for sale. If one was building a big cubed LT1 this is the block to have.
If I was using it to build a motor i would def do 15 or 18 degree heads worked for reverse cooling and a custom sheetmetal intake. Spending those kind of dollars and having our head options is pretty lame. Someone must really be a die hard LTX vehicle owner and I'm guessing with a vette. The LSX can easily be retrofitted into an F-body and if i had one I would just build a nasty LSX.
At this point, with the amount of money for that block I would rather spend the money on the new GenI World Products block that uses LSx heads and drop one of those in my car and reconfigure it to work with the OBDII computer. Easier that doing a full LSx conversion and would be able to make wicked power with LS7 heads.

If I was single ..... I would go this route. Its amazing that a aftermarket company hasnt made an LTx block for us. Is it really that different for castings, yet they can make this one for the Gen1.

I still find it hard to believe that NO ONE in the aftermarket industry ever made a decent LTx style block, and whenever the idea was posed to them a stern "NO" was always their response. And then GM only makes 10 of them...nice. The Gen I, without question, has a larger market of course, but the LTx market does exist, as seen by people willing to be $3000+ for this block on Ebay!
You know its funny how limited the LTX has been just because of the block. Can you imagine the kind of numbers LTX strokers would put out had there been a block like this from GMPP ? Can you say AFR 230 Eliminators
I think it was because of all the money spent on the LT5 and because the c5 was delayed etc etc that they never offered it.
I called this guy last week and he wouldn't give me the numbers off the block or the tags. He said Lingenfelter and Katech had one. He said the last one sold for $5000. Guess this one didn't quite make it. $3050. So much for my 427 LT1!

Reason: Update on price, spelling
Since Dart recently introduced the SHP blocks, they may have some insight as to why a reverse cooled version can/can't be produced. The SHP represents what most everyone in this thread is wanting, a big bore, relatively inexpensive block that's stronger than the factory offering.
GM is not taking a peak, as they are auctioning off an butt ton of there stuff. They are acting, really hurting with all their financial troubles so they are selling off allot of stuff.
