Cool never heard of that before.
Don't know if this was listed before, says "revised" on listing.
This is a very rare piece there is only about 10 of these in existance. This block was a special build by Flint engine plant for the engineers at GMs race shop. It is a generation 2 LT1 reverse flow cooling bowtie block. This block has 4.120" bores and 2.841" (400) main bores with steel splayed main caps the block also has screw in freeze plugs. It uses all the factory accessory bolt holes, factory roller cam and lifters and screw on oil filter and is stock deck height. Block is machined and ready to build. You could use this block to build a small blockLT1/LT4 427/454 cid engine for 92-96 corvette 93-97 camaro/firebird or 94-96 impala SS. I have this block in storage for over 10 years. Imagine driving an LT1/LT4 427/454 powered vette camaro/firebird or Impala SS
wow, I wish something like this had come up when I started my project. I would have spared no cost to snag this block. I probably would have wanted to get it anyways and get new components but the larger bearing diameter isn't supposed to help for a high revving motor. What a beauty
Yep, from the description and pics it is legit. I've seen one other one before and the owner wasn't letting it go. GM made these and for a time were referred to as th Lemans block, but they turned out not to be legal for use so the run was quickly discontinued. I would love to have one, but as you can see price can be a bit of a problem...
If I was using the lt stuff I think I'd be giving that some serious consideration. If it ends up going for 1700. that doesn't seem too terrible, due to lack of options to build a reliable 400+ inch LT.
Interesting. Food for thought, I paid $1450 if memory is correct for my GM Bowtie block SBC 1. I would think this would sell north of $2000 if it is a rare piece. Back in the day, LPE used to run over 1000 hp with these blocks.
That would compare to one of GM's Bowtie CNC blocks. Billet main caps. That would have probably been a $2200 to $2400 block when it was available from GM.
Considering Buick Stage II blocks are trading in the $3500 range now for an unused one, that was far more available than one of these, I'd be thinking this one would go for over $4000.
