can you run turbos on l98 383 stroker using the factory original ECM?it is a MAF system.
i am aware that it would have to be retuned/reprogramed but my question is can and has it been done?
i know everyone will chime in here and say the MAF sensor will be too restrictive, but dosnt forcing boost through make a differance.
also cant a person wire up multiple MAF sensors to beat this problem(has that even been tried) please let me know the answers i seek o wise ones
People have moved the maf sensor into a bigger tube and called it a "Mega MAF" over on thirdgen, but if you are FI, I would think it wouldn't be a problem for a while if the MAF is on the pressurized side.
Also, didn't the B2Ks run MAFs? I don't know.
I'm interested to hear the answer as well.

If you want to know how it was done with MAF you should learn about Callaway twin-turbo which uses both stock MAF and Stock ECM with chip. Be aware that much has changed in available turbo equipment since these cars were designed! Also be aware that these cars had warranty when new which put limits on HP parameters. Good Luck with your research!!
As an example, my existing MAF/165 ecm/42 lb. injector set-up would work fine for turbos up to approximately 600 HP. With 60 lb. injectors, around 800 HP could be supported.
This same approach could be applied for fueling almost any high powered turbocharged, supercharged or naturally aspirated L98 MAF car.
I'd suggest that you contact Greg at Blowerworks for details on the hardware and programming options that are available to meet your needs.
In my case, I am working on a different engine than the Stock that came in my 90 but it is a small block. I plan on doing dual Turbos on mine, but instead of the stock ECM I am going to be using a Accel DFI in mine as I want to be able to adjust just about everything. As a thought, if you do not want to run the Stock ECM in yours there are other options such as FAST or DFI out there.
some good info there everyone, keep it coming.
and techout lets not forget about one of the best choices out there in my opinion the megasquirt, but i was trying to keep dash functions.
Actually with the Gen VII you can keep your dash functioning and all. I have read quite a few people that say you will loose your speedometer readings but who cares it is a race car.... I was told by Accel that you can get the speedo to work if you keep the stock computer in the car and you piggy back the computer with the Gen VII. Then you do some creative wiring and cleanup and it will appear as stock, work as stock, but be able to run with the good parts, and be able to be tuned.
yes that sounds like what i have heard about megasquirt as well, it can be piggybacked. and alot cheaper than most standalone computers.
