I have the Meziere HD Electric waterpump on my 95. My heater doesn't work and I can't figure out why. Is it possible that the waterpump is spinning backwards and preventing coolant from entering the heater hoses? I can grab the heater hoses at full operating temperature and they are just barely warm. The only thing that puzzles me is if the water pump was spinning backwards - why does my car run at normal temperatures??
Re: Meziere Water Pump Question.... (I_HATE_Mustangs)
It shouldn't be spinning backwards. You did connect the blue wire to 12v and the black wire to ground? If it was spinning backwards your car would overheat. You might want to check your heater hoses for obstructions.
That's what I was thinking but when I open up the purge valve coolant flows out.... That's good right? Should only flow air if there is air in the system and then flow coolant if there is no air?
Guess I should just drain my coolant and pull the heater hoses to check for obstructions
Re: Meziere Water Pump Question.... (I_HATE_Mustangs)
You might have an airlock in the heater core. You can run pressurized water through both directions and that should eliminate it and clean the core some at the same time. Also, you may have something wrong with the temperature control valve (I have no idea where this is on the vette, probably buried somewhere and electronic), but it acts like a gate valve. If it's closed...no circulation, or very little. Stupid thought...check you fuses, maybe the circuit that controls the heat valve is blown and its not operating. Just a thought.

I doubt it's air in the system. That's one of the other benefits of the electric pump, you can purge it with the motor cold. If the hoses aren't even getting hot then I don't think the coolant is getting there. Otherwise I would say make sure that the heater vents are functioning properly.
