I have done research on past threads but cant find an answer to my question. Why does my car have a poping sound like a backfire coming from inside the engine compartment. It sounds like it comes from the air cleaner part.??? It also has a backfire from the exhaust sometimes.
Spark plugs not firing correctly.
Injector flow problems.
Timing may be off.
Valves are not sealing:
Valve/s adjustments are too snug.
Valve/s, spring/s or seat/s are damaged.
What have you done to try to diagnose the problem? Start by checking for codes, verify correct fuel pressure, are the ignition wires any good, (open the hood at night to check for arcing), is it due for normal maintenance such as spark plugs, have any repairs been done recently?
Diagnosis starts by testing and eliminating possibilities until you narrow down the root cause, good luck.

Common sense here...
Set timing
check firing order and for cross firing with the wires
