Default looking for 13's while staying crossfire

basicly i want to make my corvette faster then my friends 98 ls1 camaro his car went 13.7 at the track and id like to beat him a few times another friend has a 02 mustang GT with Exhaust, stage 2 clutch, short throw shifter CAI, T/b and mass air kit im thinking hes close to equal with the camaro

ive got a 84 with 150,000 miles on it .dosent smoke, leak or burn oil so im gonna stick with the current motor

i have a set of longtube headers for the car and will do a free flowing exhaust

i plan on buying the renegade intake manifold from dynamic crossfire solutions along with their 2.0" throttle bodies as mine need to get the bushings anyway

ill pick up the bigger injectors from them as well

now as for heads/cam i dont want to spend a fortune on the whole deal

would heads/cam get me into the 13's or will i need further mods

i was debating on a stall converter and shiftkit for the 700r4 as well

i would like to avoid doing a shortblock for now

any suggestions or rec

i keep hearing about a cold air mod for the crossfire cars

is there a better way to plumb air in from outside the car?

I'm by no means an expert, but, I think the intake restriction will really hamper the results that heads/cam would otherwise make.

All is not lost though. I remember reading about an 84 with updated computer, shift kit, and nitrous that ran very impressive times. It was in one of the car magazines a few years back (I think Hot Rod). I remember it because my dad has an 84.

And a mild stall and lower gear (nothing crazy) should help some also.

Your on the right track. You''ll need a better Cam around 270-280 Duration, you can get a set of the Alum. "113" heads very reasonable and maybe have them ported.Youll be find with that Intake and Throttle bodies. I see no reason why you won't be in the 13's with these mods.Oh,Don't for get the ECM.You'll need like an 8746 out of a 92' or so Camaro.and do the re-programming on the fly.Look on the "Crossfireinjection" site tons of info.
see www.dynamicefi.com

I had an 84' that put LS1's to shame.

Let me know if I can help you with anything.

Check with CFI-EFI. I believe his 84 is well into the 13s with stock heads/cam

Not if he's gonna change the intake using the Renegade.
Just IMO and until I see some results the Renegade may be to much for the 350 and more suited for a 383. Remember so far thats what they are using it on. Remember its very close to the offy intake and that feeds to much to a short block. I am however interested in what they find out when its tested on the stock block.

Getting into the 13's is not difficult. Once you start changing intake, heads, cam, etc You will have to consider tuning. It will effect your A/F.

Ed they are testing the manifold next week on a 350, so the dyno results should be available soon.

As far as the 113 heads, i think your compression may be too high. I could be wrong (probably) but I thought they had a 58cc chamber.

You could most get into the 13's with a well portrd stock intake. Dominic was running 13.3's with a modified stock intake heads and cam.

You can go 13s with a heavily ported manifold, headers and a good converter. CFI EFI or TOM400CI both know quite a bit about the crossfire cars. I THINK CFI EFI is on a temporary vacation, shame really as he knows alot about these cars.

If memory serves me correctly CFI-EFI did the following
Ported the living crap out of the crossfire intake (could fill a 5lb coffee can I think with the shavings)
True dual exhaust and a Vigilante 2600 stall

But before any ugrades are done you must first buy a FSM if you don't already have one!

I'm sorry, but, what is it w some C4 guys' chip on there shoulders about LS1s?
I have an 84 C4 and an 02 LS1 Z28, my dad has a bone stock 84, so I feel I can be fair here.

Yeah, maybe you changed cam, heads, intake, stall, gears, etc and could maybe outrun a stock LS1... maybe.

But LS1 cars should run mid to low 13s STOCK! My 02 ran a 13.4 at 108, with a road race set up (read no launch traction). A C5 or F-body is a 12 second car w slicks - stock. My point is be fair here. Comparing a heavily modified car to a stock one is not a bragging point.

Sorry to divert the focus of this thread, I just wanted that off my chest.

I think it is great you want to keep the Cross-fire and go faster! I think you will reach your goals w the stock intake (restriction) out of your way.

Keep us updated.

Oh, and shutting down the 02 GT should be much easier!
