Default dana 44 questions

is the dana 44 housing the same from 85-96?
if so than is there differant carriers for the differant ratios?
anyone know what ratios each carrier can use if there are more than one carrier?
also there are so many diffs called dana 44 are the gears or carriers interchangable with the vette dana 44 housing?

All C4 D44 are the same (called D44-HD or Super D44 ) also used in Viper
The C3 had a D44 (D44-ICA ) but it is completely different.

The C4 D44 has a custom pinion;
D44 size with D60 30 spline yoke and different size pinion bearing to the regular 26 spline D44 pinion found in Jeeps and trucks

I know the stock Vette 3 series carrier is listed as good for up to 3.7; people who have installed higher gears use "thick' gearsets.

See here.
The Vette ones are listed as "big pinion" with 30 splines; not 26 splines; reg D44

If you are converting from a Dana 36 to a Dana 44, remember that you will need to use the shorter torque arm and driveshaft that goes with the Dana 44. The D36 torque arm and driveshaft are longer because the carrier's pinion section is shorter.
