Default spicer U joints part number.

I've tried searching this forum but haven't had any success.

Does anyone know the Spicer part numbers for the two different type of u joints on an 87? And more importantly, where can I get them? I live outside of Philly, is there a place near here where I can get them? I tried a couple of local parts places, NAPA and Auto Zone and got nothing.

Axle u-joints are spicer 5-800X, the driveshaft uses 5-786X, best bet is to try a store that specializes in truck parts, other joints that get good marks are Neapco Brute Force available at Advance Auto Parts. 2-0799 for the half shafts, 2-0785 for the driveshaft.

Irrespective of the brand part #'s ;
you need
4 x Spicer 1350 Series uni's
and 2 x Spicer 1310 series
Any half descent Auto parts store should be able to cross reference from those.

Thanks guys for the info. I went to order them today through a truck parts supplier here. He called Spicer directly and they told him that the 5-800X ($48 each) is no longer available and has been replaced by the 5-799X ($28 each). Does that sound correct? As long as they are Spicers and fit, I'd rather go with the cheaper ones.

The 5-799X is the same size as the 5-800X but without the coating for use with aluminum driveshafts. This coating was used to help stop galvanic corrosion between the different metals. From what I've heard it isn't really a big deal (needed).

The advice passed on to you by the supplier was correct but I think you might want to "shop" the price UNLESS by chance it was a job shop that might do the bench install for the included price. You only mention the 5-800X joint? Are you only doing 4?

No. I'm going to do all 6. But there wasn't a problem with the numbers for the drive shaft. Those u's are still being made under 5-786X and available at $27.
