Pulled a plug yesterday just to check (92 LT1, 62k miles); stock plug but no plug gasket. FSM says to use gaskets. I read some posts that debated plug gaskets on earlier models but nothing said about lt1's.
Thanks, It helps, plugs do have tapered seat. Reinstall torque is 11 ft lbs I believe. Got the old ones out, not nearly as bad a job as I thought.--efish
Yeah, but how did the plug look? Gawd, the suspence!! I got a '92 w/60k, but I can't talk my fiance into changing the plugs for me, and there doesn't seem like much room in there for my sidewalk-scrapers...
The plugs weren't too bad, gap increased to about 0.07 and some of the platimum pucks were gone. As far as the job goes I only had to take of the AIR pipe and hoses on the driver side and I took off all of the brackets that hold the plug wire looms. I used tubing on the plugs to get them started and that wasn't difficult. The hardest part was getting the brackets back on. About a 4 hour job, but I am paranoid about buggering up aluminum threads so I was probably extra slow and careful.
