Default Need a replacement engine for my 88

Just about finished my 88 aniv. 4sp vette: new paint, new interior and now the motor is leaking oil and coolant from the head gasket. I can't see getting it repaired on a 21yr old car with 80k on it. Anyone know of any good shops down jersey shore area? what kinda motor i should be looking for? . I want to keep the car stock looking but want more than the 245 horse power it started off with.

good grief, what ever you do think really hard before you build one, it's been 4 months or more for me, a small fortune and made my share of frenemies along the way...

With only 80K I would put some better heads on it and save yourself some money and grief. New 180 heads, 1.6 roller rockers, and headers and you can pick up 50-60 CHP, maybe more..

i think the bottom is good for 250,000, with the top like what you want, the problem, is time, every little things delays it a week or 2 for example, i decided to go super ram, so now i had to win an ebay auction, thats 7 days, then the seller says there an ice storm in oklahoma, yeah i check the local weather and it's 50 degrees, i bite my tougue, i don't smack him cause he's got my sh+t, i finally get a tracking number, and it's ground so now it another 1.5 weeks, and now it does not include fasteners, so theres more research and hardware store angst there, all told i'd be lucky if that didn't delay the project a month, an this has been going on on every little thing, drive the car stock, or buy a new zo6
