Default Which blocks will work?

I am thinking of just rebuilding my engine. Can someone tell me what years I can use with the block that will bolt right up to everything in an 86 vette. I have an 86 with iron heads, are these still the one piece rear main seals? Thanks.

Going from a stumble from 900-1100RPM to a new motor. This must be serious

One piece 86 and up

86 was the change over year.
I believe the late '86 (and verts ) engines got alum heads and 1 pce seal cranks in which case any early 2 pce seal block would suit you.

In any case the only difference in fitment to car is a change of flywheel; 1pce v 2 pce.
Getting into a later, 1 pce crank roller block opens up a lot more options.
96- 00 Vortec L31 truck block is common and cheap;
has roller cam , 50% chance of 4 bolt mains.

That is what I was curious about...if I have a one piece seal, I will just rebuild using my block. I need to know if the early 86's with cast iron heads also came with a one piece seal or the two piece. Do all other holes line up on later blocks?? Motor mounts, tranny, heads, ect...

No issues with mounts, trans, or heads between the 1 and 2 pc rear blocks to my knowledge

My oops.
Early 86 was one off with a 1 piece RMS but still used a flat tappet cam & iron heads.
