Default Clutch System Question

I have a leaky clutch slave cylinder on my '90. Since the one I need has been discontinued I am upgrading to the '91-'96 style. Bill at zfdoc directed me to Rock Atuo for a cast iron version with a lifetime warrenty for 55 bucks. Now I cannot bring myself to spend $140 on the feed line so I am going to get a couple fittings and a universal stainless flexhose from summit for less than $50. I was wondering if anyone out there knows or has a way of measuring what size/type (NPT, AN, Inverted Flare, etc) of fittings are on both the master and the slave.

Thanks.

I believe the hose has banjo type fittings and bolts. I had to go to a hose shop to replace the bolts that had been misplaced. Summit might not have what you need.....I do have the rock auto slave....top notch (so far)

Try Earl's performance

I'd listen to ZFdoc, he's the expert on all things ZF

hate for you to trash your ZF, kinda pricey to fix

Why don't you take the parts you have to a good local parts store and buy the fittings from them.

I'm in the process of building my own line. The fittings on the master and slave are "bubble" flare brake fittings. These are common and available at any auto parts store. They can also sell you the line so you can bend it yourself. I could not tell you if they are metric (likely) bubble flare or European bubble flare (who knows) but taking either the old hose or the new slave to a parts store could get you set quick.

I also bought a 6" brake hose (rubber[brakeware pn.77528]) which I plan to use as the flex point. I was only able to find this line in 3/16" double inverted flare, which will work fine as I will cut and flare my line myself. So having metric bubble flaring on one end of a line and SAE double inverted flare on the other is no problem. It is possible you could find a brake hose with the bubble flare fittings on each end, but I didn't look that hard.

Another option is to take your old line to a parts store (like a larger NAPA) which makes hydraulic hoses in house and ask them to duplicate it.

You will probably beat me to it, I don't even have my car up in the air, let alone the garage yet. Be sure to take some pictures!

Thanks for the good info! I wasnt sure if they changed fittings with the new slave or not. My new slave is in the mail and the old one is out so I guess I will take it in. Thanks!
