Ok guys I need some help. I broke off the dip stick tube trying to put some headers in. The thing broke off even with the block. I got the pan off end the dam thing won't move. Just broke off agian. I guess I can drill it out. My problem is I can't seem to find someone that sells one on line. Anybody know of a site that sells dip stick tubes for a 86.
I cant tell you were to buy one but I can tell you that you will have to modify for the headers any way so you may want to go get an aftermarket one from a Parts store or any from a scrap yard.
I was looking at mine today figuring how to fasten it to the block I had to remove the small bracket from the tube, I had to bend it a bit that was to clear my plug wire loom. I think I am going to weld a small bracket on the tube that will bolt into the block where the temp sensor (sensor sits between spark plugs screws into the head) bracket wire bolts to, its a small threaded hole that has a machine screw with a 3/8" head on it.
Is the tube for an '86 on the passenger side? Does the engine have
headers? If so, then the ZZ4 diptick may be a more suitable choice.
The OEM L98 dipstick tube includes a bracket that attaches to an
exhaust manifold stud. When the manifolds are replaced by headers,
the tube's bracket does not adapt well to the thinner flange.
The ZZ4 tube has a bracket that fastens to a threaded boss cast
into the side of the block.

The ZZ4 tube is a different length than the L98's. Get the matching
ZZ4 dipstick to ensure accurate oil level readings.
