Cruise Control

Cruise Control on my '88 A4 has always worked flawlessly in the 5 years I've owned it. Well, I did have to adjust the pull-chain when I initially found the CC not working.
This just started yesterday. I'll set the CC and it doesn't have that momentary acceleration as it sets. Then it'll hold on the flats, but as soon as there's any load at all, it slowly bleeds off.
Also, if I try to accelerate using the CC switch, nothing much if anything happens.
Seems like a vacuum problem, but I'm away from my FSM until Tuesday night to dig deeper with any intelligence.
Everything else seems fine as far as no signs/sounds of a vacuum leak in the engine compartment, and all the hoses and harnesses appear to be attached properly.
Thanx

Poking around in the parking lot at work and found one of the vacuum hoses had a split in it. Looked fine. Didn't make any noise, but when I spun it around it was split about 1/2 inch on the back side.
Funny, it wasn't split at the very end. Just right over the nipple that holds it on, so it felt like it was on nice and tight.
Problem solved.
