Bearing Failures?

How common is it for the LT4 motor to spin a bearing? I have found one for sale I am considering, and the ad says it has just had the motor rebuilt after a bearing failed. The motor had only 70K on it when the bearing went. How often do you hear about this happening? And, more importantly, what are the common causes? Do you think the driver may have ran it out of oil?

If the rev limiter was bumped to high, LTX engines will spin the bearings.

The rod bolts are weak.

What Brian said. I would want a complete breakdown on the rebuild before I wrote a check. If someone simply spiffied up the bottom end the mill wouldn't be worth much IMHO.

Do you mean if the rev limiter was bounced off of too many times? Or do you mean if they rev limiter was electronically raised?

Will shifting it regularly above 6K lead to engine failure?
