a tv cable?
"oh and if you have an uato, get that tv cable as tight as possible, it makes a huge difference"
From a post on the crossfire forum.

I don't know that I would do a lot of adjusting to it. Small changes on mine has a huge impact on shift points. Seems to run best for me when I just followed the shop manual instructions on resetting it.
Trust me it can make your car run like CHIT. I just did all the mods in my sig and snuck the car out without the exhaust on. Super Loud, and the car ran like crap. Could not spend much time on the road becuase of no exhaust, but I know the TV cable is out of adjustment and that is the cause. I played with it before the mods and it can make your car feel like crap or make it perform better than ever...The shop manual method did not work for my stock setup or this new setup, however just moving it a little then trying it out yielded the best results. For instance when I did as the manual states, the car was very sluggish taking out and would not downshift when floored, just groaned like the Cape Buffalo I shot in Africa :D (sorry animal lovers). Then I adjust all the way out and the car was unreal taking out, I mean I could not take out without squeeling the tires, I thought WOW this is awesome, until I tried kicking it down at ~35-40mph, just groaned again like you know what. So I adjusted back a little more each time until it was good from a dead stop and kicked down as expected..after that thought the tires would spin with easily into second part way during hard takouts..made the car feel much more powerful. Don't let anyone tell you that it is JUST for kickdown...I think it also holds the tranny in gear longer, because now it shifts right to high gear and will not come back down...hence NO power. Play with it..more than likely if it has never been adjusted it needs it, but I would make your original location with a permanant marker so it can be moved back. Good luck..
The TV cable is not for transmission kickdown, like the old detent cables of the TH350/400s. The TV cable directly affects the line pressure of the transmission, which also affects the shift point out of first and the down shift firmness. The 2-3 & 3-4 WOT shift points are dictated by the governer on the tranny itself and is adjusted by changing springs and fly weights.
The cable adjustment is a test & tune thing and is different for every car, so you'll have to play with it to get it where you want. It does make a big difference in how the car behaves. Good luck.
