Default Pushrod length selection.....

My Heads are at ElliotPortworks now and I was wondering what pushrod length I have to go with. He didnt say a specific one he just said " Trick Flow 21407xxx pushrods "
Now what determines the length, How do I measure to get the correct length?

Unless you're changing to LS7 lifters, stock length is what you need. I would imagine that the worked over stock heads will use guideplates, which means you need hardened pushrods.

Actually there are alot of varibles. Milling, decking, cam base circle. But the base circle of the cam has the biggest effect on pushrod length. If it is real mild, there is a good chance stock length pushrods will work. But it is common for bigger cams to have reduced base circles, which require longer pushrods. Jegs and Summit sell some inexpensive pushrod checking tools.

The final specs are unknown but will be close to this ( I told them what I wanted out of the cam and they are custom grinding based on what I said, This cam was brought up so I think it will be similar.)
218/224 .544/.544 111 LSA cam

Don not buy pushrods without checking for proper length. Buy or borrow a good checker, I recommend the Comp Cams model 7702-1 and a pair of lightweight checking springs. It has a range of measurement that is perfect for a small block and is very easy to use. You can get both for 25 bucks or so and do the job perfectly without any guesswork.

Just ask Lloyd for instructions. He's provided them to myself and others.
