Hello, I am changing out my Dana 36 for a Dana 44. I am changing the pumpkin and batwing only. Does anyone know if I will need an alignment after this swap? Thank you.
I am pretty sure that if you take off everything without turning anything, and put it straight back on it will be close to aligned. Assuming it was in alignment before.

Diff and batwing only shouldn't have any affect on your alignment.
Actually you should strongly consider an alignment. When you factor in everything the affects your rear alignment is bolted to the batwing and any variances in production will change your alignment. I know an alignment is cheaper than a pair of tires, why chance it?

There's always a chance that the holes in the replacement batwing can have some wear due to loose bolts or if the car that donated it was used hard (like autocross or track use). Even if the two crossmember attachment points have some variance, that could cause some sort of out-of-alignment condition.
Because the C4 really needs a 4-way alignment, it wouldn't hurt to have everything checked out and aligned as necessary.
