I am replacing the clutch in my 1985 corvette. I am new to the manual tranny scene. I need to know how to replace my throw out bearing and the pilot bearing. Thanks for the help!
Its been a couple of days and I hope by now you already have the answers. The thow aout bearings in general just ride the tranny input shaft and contact the fingers of the pressure plate when the clutch pedal is depressed. When you depress the cluth a fork moves the throw out back and forth. I havent torn my Vette apart so I dont know exactly what is involved but some throw outs are clipped to the fork and some are not.
As for the pilot bearing, load the space inside the flywheel where the bearing sits completely with axle grease and use the line up tool as a piston forcing the grease into the space. Keep adding grease until the bearing pops out. Simple hydraulics.
