Induction Decision SLP Vs Vortech

The link above shows a comparison that was done by one of our forum members, comparing the results of the SLP intake, the stock set-up and then the stock set-up with a cut lid and K&N filter. As you can see from his dyno results, the performance difference between each was negligible at best. Keep in mind as well, that this was not on a stock LT1, but on a highly modified 368 cubic inch Lingenfelter LT5 producing nearly 500hp to the rear wheels on a dyno.
If there were any improvements to be had over the stock intake with an aftermarket design like the SLP, surly, it would be obvious with such an extensively modified engine....
The end results? There was less than a 3HP difference between the 3 set-ups on average. What this test clearly shows, is that the stock intake on these cars is an excellent design to begin with and not a restriction at all on motors producing in excess of 500HP at the flywheel.
Unless you're making more than that with your LT1, there's really no need to spend your money on an aftermarket intake. The bottom line is, if your only goal is to add a few more ponies and increase your 'Vette's performance, your money would be much better spent on any number of other mods besides an air intake. Your stock one will do you just fine.

If on the other hand, all you want is to "spice up" your engine compartment, the SLP "Tri-Claw" intake does look pretty darn cool and will definitely attract some attention when you pop the clamshell hood. It's definitely a nice looking piece for sure. Whether or not its "looks" are worth the $200+ asking price, well, that's up to you... just don't expect it to make you any faster then you are right now ...
Hope that helps. Good luck with your decision.

I have the same on my 95. No cutting for the SLP, if you want to keep it stock, the Vortech requires notching the fan shroud.
