My 90 vette is giving me an electronic spark control code. Is the electronic spark control in the ECM if not were is it. If so do i have to replace the ECM to fix it
The ESC module on my 84 is on passenger side next to blower. It is a flat pack with 4 wires going to it. It could also be knock sensor located down by starter.
Good luck.

Details? What code is it setting? The ESC module is an independent piece of hardware, and does not require replacement of the ECM in almost any code issue.

I will have to look at the code again but i think it was 43.

I don't remember which year it was, but the later L98 ECM incorporated the ESC electronics into the internal Memcal unit. If you don't have the external module, I would assume yours has the internal board.

So i will have to replace the ECM. I seem to only come on when its real cold out side. It just started coming on with the cold weather now that it in the 60s low 70s it has not come on. When it was cold out it would come on an off every few mins

As I mentioned earlier, not necessarily. The memcal unit just plugs into the ECM board. If there is an actual issue with the ESC electronics (very rare due to the robustness of the hybrid circuit technology), you can just replace the plug in memcal, not the entire ECM.
There are a couple issues to debug first. The knock sensor connection is somewhat fragile. Check to make sure that the connector pin is making a good mechanical and electrical connection to the sensor. I suppose there is also the slight possibility that there is a marginal solder connection in the ESC circuit, or in an ECM connection that the ESC signals travel through. Replacing everything gets expensive. If you have the time and ability, it might pay to try to narrow down the problem area.

I have the time do to layoff and i have the ability and tools so i will check it out Thanks
Same code 43? knock sensor .
As noted by 69427 above;
code indicates a problem in the circuit; the ECM is not getting correct signal from sensor.
Could be faulty sensor or just bad connection on wiring back to ECM.
Need to check wiring is OK with DVM first before replacing parts.
Have done all the tests listed in the service manual diagnostic flow chart and it says to replace the memcal. Can't find the memcal for sale anywhere.Any other ideas or suggestions?
thanks
Get someone like PCMforless to burn you a new memcal with the '90 Corvette code on it. http://www.pcmforless.com/
