Default LT-1 knock sensor

I've read that an LT4 uses a different, less-sensitive knock sensor than an LT1, and am wondering whether substitution of an LT4 knock sensor on an LT1 may have a benefit.

Or, is the reason the less-sensitive knock sensor used in the LT4 because the stock LT4 emits "knock-like" pressure waves during its higher rpm operation, which rpm levels the stock LT1 never sees, so a more sensitive KS in the LT1 does not create an issue ?

Mine's a 93 and I've hit a brick wall in tuning it in that I cant use a hypertech, but must rather resort to burning EEPROM's; if erroneous knock sensing and its attendant spark retard is an issue in the early LT1 I might consider swapping the less-sensitive knock sensors from the LT4 in there, to not erroneously losing spark advance. Anyone know or done that ? Thanks !!

The LT4 uses the same OBDII knock sensors as the 96 LT1. These OBDII knock sensors cannot be used in the pre 96 OBDI cars. Even if they could there would be no difference. What is different is the LT4 knock module. But unfortunately for you, it can only be used in the 94-96 Vettes.
