"the Regulator"

Have you checked or replaced the O2 sensor? Have you checked to see if there are any codes stored in the computer?

Yep replaced everything so far and no codes. Been that way since I did the rebuild a year ago. Replaced everything but that. Guess thats what happens when you get old

Tell us about your "rebuild". What did you do? Stock parts? Change injectors? If so, what size did you change to?

Hey sorry I took so long to get back. This 12 hr. hospital work wears me down. On my 85 just went with a 30 over and alum heads. Mild cam, chip. I was gonna put in the 30 lb injectors, but it was really rich then so I put the stock 22's back in. So I guess I need to change the regulator? Should it run @ 41lbs?. Sure need a solution. The wife won't go out in the garage. Thanks Jeff

1985 had 24# injectors. The fuel pressure should be (for the 24#) 24-36 at idle. This could be one source of your problem. With 22# you could turn up the pressure and it might help. This would also depend on the manufacturer of the injectors. If they are Ford injectors, I believe that they flow higher than the poundage listed.

You replaced the stock cam. Did you have a custom chip built for the cam/engine combo? You indicate "new chip". It might be a problem with the chip.

Have you pulled the plugs to read them? Could you have put in a cold plug resulting in incomplete buring of the fuel?

Also pull the line to the fuel pressure regulator. Is there any fuel in the line? If so, then the diaphram is broken and feeding too much fuel.

i would start with the chip....... then the O2 sensor. Then check the start valve temp sensor. if compromised, the 9th injector might not shut off.
