Default fuel issues

Ihave an 85 with a carburated motor and i cant seem to keep my fuel pressure down. I have a holley regulator with return, Iwas told by a freind that I cant run carburater with a car with fuel pump in tank , is this true or am i just missing something? thanks

Carburetor needle & seats cannot cope with more then 8-12psi at the very most. In-tank fuel pumps typically run at 45psi Even though you have a regulator with a return to tank line. There is too much working pressure for the regulator to handle.

Sorry. Had to edit in - Yes it's true. You cannot use that pump.

holley regulators have given us grief in the past, try another one...if no help, switch to an 84 vette pump (tBi pumps make less pressure than tPi pumps) that will only make 15 psi max.
