Default Help: Engine Sensor behind the starter.
1985 Corvette. There is a sensor located in the block on the sloped surface behind the starter. It has a single wire going into it. On my car it is broken and the wire is hanging loose.

Anyone been into this thing?

From what I can gather from the FSM it is the fan override switch.
I'm sure someone else will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

You mean in front of the starter???
That is the knock sensor

Generally speaking the starter is located at the rear of the motor knock sensor sounds like the ticket.
