Default Hsr

I am getting an HSR for my 85 soon enough and will modify it to work. My question is since there is no cold start injector do I jsut need to wait to get a tune before I install or what?

I mean my car already starts like crap. I have to hold the revs at 750 or it dies. But after about 30 sec it idles on its own

I plan on getting exhaust and the intake and then a custom chip burned to my 383.

You could order a chip in advance. Then, install both HSR and chip at the same time. Mail order tunes often come with tweaking options where low-cost improvements can be obtained. And, unless you'd be sending scans, they have to go on predictions of components anyway.

yep just get a mail order for now if you cant tune it yourself. installing the hsr and no cold start may have starting issues. Now you could try it out and see if it works with the cold start disconnected.

IF you have to hold down the gas pedal while starting, that seems to tell me its too rich on start up so taking out the 9th injector may actually improve your starting.

But the HSR will need a tune regardless

That setup is running on the stock chip?? wow

Definately try pcmforless. They will send you a mail order chip and you'll have a chance to send it back for reburn for free up to like 2 times i think or something like that to get the tune closer.

Unless your near them, you wont beable to tune that car with them by your side.

PCMforless should beable to get the car much closer than the stock tune it wont be perfect the first time thru. They did a ok job on my 383 base tune, but i had to tweak alot from there. mainly the WOT was off and so was hot restarts, but overall i was happy with them

To be expected with tune for stock 22lb injectors. Like 25% too rich
What's your fuel economy like?

Yea there is alot left on the table for my CURRENT setup. But i relly dont want to get a chip until I have my intake and exhaust.

Where are they located? I have no problem telling them my specs and staying at a local hotel if they are in Texas.
What can expect to pay for a chip? I was figuring on $500

Note that if running too Rich too long, it can ruin your Rings and/or Bearings. The Gas "washes" the oil from the Cylinder Walls, and dilutes the Oil for the Bearings.

CHips are like 250 i think. If you had the burning equipment and chip adapter from MOates.net, you could get a email bin file for 75 bucks and burn it yourself then make changes as you go.

i think the pcmforless TPI/L98 guy is in mid south. The LT1 guy was in Butler or Indiana, PA i think, about 40 min from me
