It will work with a vortec base. You wont get the most out of it, but it will work.

Cylinder heads-Part # 12464298 Aluminum Fast Burn Head 62cc Combustion Chamber, 210cc Intake Runner Volume,"Fast Burn" Combustion Chambers with 2.00" Lightweight Hollow Stem Intake Valves and 1.55" Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves. LT4 Corvette Valve springs and lightweight retainers are used. This head has "D" shaped exhaust ports, and has Dual bolt pattern Intake manifold and valve cover configurations.
So, it will work w/the TPI, but a Miniram would be better suited, w/the right cam.

Well the zz4 350 or the zz4 385, is probably the way i will go. I have trouble finding a miniram anywhere though. Ive heard that an lt1 intake will work if you modify it. What would I have to do to make that work? Would I have to have the computer tuned?

TPiS.com makes the miniram. Sometimes you can find a used one in the for sale section.

It peaks around 5,600... Id think a vortec base and S/R upper would also work very well.

A Vortec Base isn't needed with those Heads. Can't you find a Machine or Speed Shop in your area who could put together a 383 for you? You could use better parts than are in that Motor, for probably the same cost. Do some research and check out some places like Flatlanders. I personally don't like that Cam (Slow "acting" & too big a "split") and I think the Heads are too big (Port Volume).

Its my understanding that the heads are drilled for a standard base but the fastburn heads have the vortec type intake runners, and the ports don't match up very well.

It is rated with open exhaust and a carb, so once you slap your TPI on it, it wont make anywhere near the 385hp.

The heads want more air badly, but the cam is fine even with TPI. Honestly I would buy the same engine with a bigger cam and then put a MR on that, but its fine to just slap a MR on this and then have the chip redone.

And you will need a custom chip done either way, so budget it.
