Diff Swap Question
This weekend a buddy and I nearly finished a month-long project; dropping a new longblock into his '87 4+3 ice racer. When we went to bolt up the transmission, we started to run into all kinds of difficulties, like the holes were way off. We had a similar problem with the timing chain cover. From this point on, everything we did required extensive rework. It was weird, like everything was exactly the opposite of where you'd expect to find it. After much milling, drilling, tapping and welding, we got everything reinstalled and fired it up. At first it was literally pouring oil on the floor, but that stopped after awhile. It ran perfect! We did have one calamity when we went to back it out of the garage. That's when we noticed that this motor was turning the opposite direction of the original, giving him 4+3 speeds in reverse. Although interesting, he decided that wasn't exactly the performance advantage he was after and we decided the best way to rectify it is to flip the differential so the ring gear is on the other side of the pinion.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Please let me know if there's anything we should watch out for. Thanks.

Actually, I was in no mood to be doing any engineering this morning so I decided to post the most ridiculous load of caca I could think of and see if anybody would call me out on it.
