If I buy a holley Stealth ram intake will this intake fit under my stock hood, Will I have to buy new fuel rails and what all else do I have to do/buy for this application to work?

I looked at this site and in all the rides that are featured, there was only one Vette and it had a custom plenum. That kinda indicates that the full HSR set up wont fit under the hood to me. Keep the posts coming, I am watching your mods to your '85 and seeing what I might want to do to mine. How did the engine rebuild go, didnt you put a stroker in?

Full size HSR most definitely WILL NOT fit under stock hood. You will have to have a high rise hood or cut it or do something to make it work.

HSR does need a sticky thread with compiled data.

What nobody has ever told me is what the difference between the HSR and the modified HSR is. I'm sure changing the dimensions will affect something but what?

The rebuild went good I put the new motor in and tuning it was the hardest part. the rest of the rebuild was easy. Didnt pull the hood or the trans. I didnt put a stroker kit in it because i figured since it was my daily and I wanted to build something solely for the track I would hold off on the motor in the vette. However I did put a comp XFI cam and 64cc heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves, spec stage 2 clutch and all of the other bolt ons that I already had on it. It is pretty mean. The fastest car that I have raced in it so far was a 1995 camaro with a camed corvette LT1 in it and i pulled him by 3 links so it is ok for a everyday street car.

Will the TPIS miniram fit under the hood of my vette or will a edelbrock airgap intake with a 700 double pumper fit under the hood? LOL

I know you've asked this question several times w/o a reply. I will venture a response -- just to provoke add'l feedback.

Though the USR guys wouldn't tell me the answer to this question -- or address the effects, they claim plenum volume is unchanged after their mods. Their claim is the removal of internal supports gives back the volume robbed with slammin the plenum a bit.

Even if they remove a small bit of volume (exaggerating about the volume going unchanged), I don't see they've removed enough really matter. In general the plenum is a supply for air to the runners. If it gets too small, you'll simply lose top-end power. More precisely, hit the power ceiling sooner. However, USR's modification looks to be such a small change, you're only talking a couple hundred rpms for the biggest/highest revving motors. And, I'm going to say that's where you wouldn't NEED an HSR anyway.

From what I've seen, the plenum on the modified HSR is still reasonably bigger than a TPI. It's also gotta be bigger than a MR/LT plenum too. I certainly can't see their (small) reduction in plenum volume affecting low-mid range TQ/HP where it dynos with an advantage over the MR/LT intakes. If you want better low-end torque in exhange for a small amount of high-end power, the USR modded HSR is still in that category!

BTW: If you're really worried about the issue, why not ask LD85 if he can/will make a custom plenum for you? (Of course as big/bigger too).

I wont be making ay until fall probably at best.

Also I did not comment on the plenum volume because so far, my car has seen no ill effects of the smaller volume so I have no facts about that, but this summer with the new cam and a dyno run I may find out more pro or con. It makes sense that a given plenum volume can only support XXXRPM/cfm etc.
