Default Fpr grrr

I have put a Profesional Products 10671 FPR in the car. The first one would not hold pressure, so i pinched the return line and it would. So that told me it was the reg. Now a new one is the same way. I turn the key to the run position(not start) and it pressures up, and then it drpos to 30psi quick, and slow down to 0 after. Am I not understanding how it is supposed to work. Or is it supposed to do that. I am so confused. I am still waiting on my exhaust so I just want to make sure everyting else is in order before I fire it up for the first time. I have cam, intake,RR,heads, hedders, lots more.

My reading on this forum suggests that aftermarket AFPR's do not hold pressure. Mine doesnt (aeromotive).

I was begining to fear that. I asked tis exact ? 3-4 weeks ago and was told to replace the fpr. Thanks for your help bud. No offence to anyone else I'm just getting frustrated. Even Professional Products told me otherwise. GRRRRRRRR. Now I can move on to the next things I have to do. This forum rocks. I always get my answer.

Take a look at this document. Its from Aeromotive, and they say "The enclosed fuel pressure regulator may not hold significant fuel pressure after the fuel pump
stops running.".

It's not really a big deal. I had a pressure loss at pulse dampener that would send my fuel pressure to zero with minutes. I noticed no driveability or starting problems, when it was like that.
My Holley AFPR holds pressure for hours and hours.

I have the same issue with pressure drop. I have a new pump, AFPR and injectors. I was beginning to suspect the pulsator. Did you replace it? Just like you, no driveability problems. It just has to crank an extra second or so to start.

Like 87stocker, I replaced it with a piece of fuel injection hose.

Will do AGENT86.
Make sure if you are relacing it you do use fuel injection hose. It is built to last, also use some good clamps.

When I talked to Aeromotive about mine they claimed that their design does not allow it to hold pressure, supposedly the design they use is BETTER at holding proper pressure and more precise once the car is running, but after the car is shut off mine drops off to zero almost instantly. Doesn't seem to really affect starting a whole lot, I imagine because the injectors are still going to have some fuel in them anyway and you need very little to get the car started? Who knows, but doesn't bother me, more than anything I like the way the Aeromotive looked!
