Last week my 87 corvette starting idling really high for spontaneously (along with the check engine light, the light only some times though.)so a few forum memers told me to clean it, i did it ran fine for 2 days then after a 50 mile trip last night, i parked it then started it later that night and it started idling high again, UGH. then today i i drove it to work came home, idling high some of the trip...when i went to start the vette later today it just cranked and cranked...wouldn't start.
Another question should the little piston on with the spring move freely on the IAC? what are the characteristics of a good one?
yes, actually it will if you are stock especially. Will it fire with your foot down on the throttle? My car did the same thing when I got it, wouldn't start without foot on peddle, cause: bad IAC.
Isn't that only if you push the throttle all the way down ?
When the ECM sees over a certain % TPS when cranking.
Have to check my FSM for exact figure.
Had a buddy who's TPS was off a little after TB work and it took ages to work out why it would not fire.
