Default 1994 C4 Tranny fluid

Hi does anyone know the steps in changing the tranny fluid

I attempted to do this in the past after I took off the cross member it look like the exhaust was in the way does it have to be removed to get to the pan?

I have been changing the fluid by extracting it from the dipstick tube.

Your suggestions on this would be very helpful

thanks

If you're not changing the filter you can use the pump in the transmission to pump it out for you.

Here is what I do:
Remove the trans cooling line that goes to the radiator (top line for my '96). Hook a rubber hose to it long enough to reach a bucket. One that fits good and snug then clamp it to the cooling line. Put the other end in the bucket. Either have someone watch to see the fluid coming out of the hose or put it where you can see it. Get in the car and crank it up then put it in gear with the brake applied and it will pump about all of the fluid out this way. Cut the car off immediately when the fluid stops or sputters. Reconnect the the cooling tube and refill.

Of course you could put a drain on the pan when you have it off next time and make this process a lot easier.

I have used the above method twice in the last 100,000 miles driven. It works well.
