I asked this same question, except my version was my 91 L-98 6-speed swapped out for a LT4 motor.
The short and quick answer is: It would be ALOT of headache!
R/Noland
P.S. BUT, with enough time and money almost ANYTHING is possible!
too much headache because of how the computer systems are set up on a LT1/4 car which also makes it a headache to swap a different kind of engine into those cars as well. You would probably be better off going for the LS1 swap, not as much headache.
would a lt1 and a 6spd bolt up to an 85 vette with out a lot of headache??
Bolt up...yes, no problem
Getting it running is a different story, you will have to use the LT1 computer and harness but as was posted already anything is possible with persistance.
If you already have the engine tranny I would say it is worth doing. If you haven't bought it yet I would use a TPI motor with the six speed. At the very least your wiring will be there
