There are a number of screws under the front of the dash pad above the instrument panel across the front. If I recall I had to remove the plastic dash panels to get at some of them. Then pull the dash pad towards you. There are clips near the windshield it slides into. If it has never been removed, you probably have to break the silicone seal it is fastened with.

Agreed, those flat panel replacements for the breadbox don't look good to my eye either. Anyone need a good breadbox to do the same (I replaced mine with a glovebox)?

I found it on the Throttle Body forum a couple of years ago for sale by a guy who had it stored in Denver. It was made in CA but when the owner died, no one else picked up making them.

PS, I'm orignally from near Reading, PA but now live in the real Freeland: New Zealand.

You forgot to mention the 2 screws in the defroster vent up by the windshield, if you leave these in you will have a hard time getting the pad off for sure....WW

Right you are! I did forget em. It's been awhile since I've done it. Thanks.

That looks really good. I would guess finding one would be near impossible or take a lot of luck.

That looks terrific and is functional too. I bought one of those flat panel things that pulls out a bit like an accordion for some storage but never installed it.
I want one like his -- I'd pay $250 for one.
