Default LT4 Cam upgrade

Took my LT4 C4 to the shop for a new fan belt and they discovered a small water pump leak that needs to be taken care of. Since the front end of the motor has to be torn down, it may make sense to add a better cam.
Any suggestions? All I have been able to read about for cam upgrades on the internet is upgrading to a LT4, not what can be done when you are already there. I want at least 30 hp. additional to warrant the expense.
Car is equipped with SLP shorties and intake, open exhaust, and programming by PCM4less

I rarely hear of people upgrading to a stock LT4 cam; what you're probably thinking of is the LT4 HotCam. The HotCam will be a good addition to your current mods, and should give about 30hp IIRC, with a tune. That's about all the cam you can get without upgrading the valvetrain as well. I'm trying to decide right now whether, over the summer, to throw a HotCam in and be done with it, or use a Comp Camps 503 cam, which requires new valvesprings that allow more lift. Depends on how much money you want to spend.

The Lt4 hot cam is something for you to look into. There is alot of baby cams that could give you some good power. Lingenfelter makes some pretty interesting cams.

A cam upgade will most likely require swapping valvesprings, which will require more money, something to consider.

I think the spring set at GMPP will run under $40 IIRC.

FYI: Removing the waterpump is a VERY SMALL part of a camshaft change. Just ask "rickreeves1".

I can probably pull the water pump in about 20 minutes now.

A cam change is a big undertaking on a C4.If you are paying someone to do it get some quotes first.New springs are a must. The hot cam is tried and true. The comp xfi lobes or some of their other grinds will work well also. The LPE 219 cam would do well also.
If you don't want to undertake the swap just switch to an electric water pump. That's a tenth right there. You could always do that and new springs with 1.6 rockers on your stock cam for a lot less than a cam swap.Try to find a dyno tune.Mail order is guesswork at best. You may get close.Mine was off and actually had too much timing causing detonation I could'nt hear in the upper rpm range.Picked up some power too.
