Dana 44 center section interchange...?
The spindle rod brackets "by part #" are through '87, '88 only and '89 plus. The bolts (2) per side are larger diameter through '87 than the '89+. I've no experience with an '88. The worse case scenario if either of you have an "early" housing would be you need to ream the mounting holes of the brackets to match the larger diameter of the early housing and use the larger diameter hardware. This is not a "problem"! Compare the hardware of both cars and if need be exchange.
There should be no other issues! Will you be doing the exchange "same day" next to one another? Both of you need to consider the speedometer drive/driven to correct the speedometer! Are both transmissions the same? Is the speedometer in the car with the 4+ ratio correct presently.
There's actually "little" to be concerned with!
I didn't mean to throw you a "curve" but you asked and that's the only "physical" difference I recall. Drilling or reaming the brackets or the housing and four bolts I wouldn't consider an issue.

Aye , you have to do that exact same thing with D36 differentials from those years.
