Default vibration over 60 mph

anyone have any similar issues with vibration, more of a slight shaking, ruling out ball joints and u-joints which are all ok?

I have similar problem on my 87, slight vibration at 70-80. Haven't found it yet, not sure if it is a tire, wheel bearing, u-joint, etc. Just a noticeable vibration. I hope someone can help us with this one.

Try getting the tires and wheels balanced to rule that out.

It's inexpensive and if the vibes are still there you know it's something else.

Have all steering, suspension and drivetrain parts checked while the car is on the lift too.

Your driveline is balanced and needs to go in the same way it came out....had it out lately?

I had that problem as well. It was a vibration (bouncy feeling in the back part of my vette). For me it was the u joints. You should also look into getting what is called a road force balance. They do that at Discount Tire Co.

I had the same issue, got the tires spin-balanced and that did the trick!

I will see about getting tires balanced. Just out of curiosity, how hard is it to do u joints? I am guessing at 22 years old and 86k miles I need to do all of them and not just the drive shaft?

I had the same issue, once I got to around 75mph I would start feeling vibration. Not real harsh, but definitely there. Once my new tires were installed and balanced, no more vibration, nice and smooth!

Probably wouldn't be bad idea to have them all done.

As for how easy or hard they are, that depends on your ability.

U-Joints can be very frustrating for those who have never changed them before, and it helps to have the right tools to do the job.

It's easy to screw up the U-Joint when installing them due to the bearings falling out of place, patience is your friend with this job.

I have an 86, and 2 of my wheels were originals that were egg shaped on the inside diameter. I changed wheels, and problem gone.
If you determine that you have bad wheels, I may have a solution.
If you have an 84-87, I have a set of nice polished aftermarket inexpensive wheels that will get you by till you save up for an expensive set. $350 plus shipping. These were on my car that fixed the problem.
I now have saved up and replaced the interim set I installed, and now they are ready to save someone else.
