Default L98 intake manifold

I was looking at the specs on the LT1 and the L98. It stated that due to the long runners on the L98 intake feeding the cylinders on the other side of the engine, that this was robbing top end power. The shorter length with the LT1 intake feeding the cylinders on the same side of the engine that it was better on top end. If so, do they make an intake manifold that doesn't direct the airflow to the other side on the L98 and keep it on the same side. I know it would be a tight bend, but in theory shouldn't this increase topend?

Yes it would, with proper cam and exhaust, and head work....
cheap but effective way is to get an aftermarket manifold with larger runners, and siamese adjacent runners together for 4 or so inches on the runner pipe end of manifold....that shortens the tuned tube so range/rpm is incereased......supposedly it's a good cheap mod....
thread on it some time ago...may do a search on forum here....

Yes they do, it is called a Mini-Ram and is made by TPIS. It essentially is an LT1 manifold but with standard flow cooling and a passage for the distributor. It totally replaces the TPI. I also saw a link here a little while ago for a company that mods LT1 intakes to work on standard flow small-blocks.

If so, do they make an intake manifold that doesn't direct the airflow to the other side on the L98 and keep it on the same side. I know it would be a tight bend, but in theory shouldn't this increase topend?

I know of the miniram, but I am looking for just an intake manifold that can be used with the L98 plenum and runners that directs the air to the same side of the engine.

It can't effectively be done with stock plenum and runners.

Think about how the runners curve down to face the opposite side of the manifold. To keep bends mild you would have to raise up the runners and plenum and modify the runners. Sharp bends are not condusive to fast air flow.

Of course if you modify the runners and the base you might be able to improvise such a setup.

Don't think the L98 can't be made to breath better up top and still retain the low end torque. After all the LS1 has runners that feed the opposite side though shorter than the L98 runners. Take a look at Probst's book on Corvette FI.
