Default OIL TEMP Gauge???

'92 6-speed...my oil temp gauge doesn't seem to be working. I have a reading on the digital display. Where do I begin to check? Are there separate senders?

Yes, I believe there are separate senders for the digital and analog oil temp gauges. Not sure where they are on the engine though, you'd have to check the FSM.

If the 92 is like the 85( both L98) the oil temp sender is on the driver side above the oil filter.

I went to Advanced Auto parts and picked up an oil temperature sensor for about 40 bucks. It mounts right above the oil filter. The sensor unsnaps, then you need to loosen the brass sending unit---this is a pain, but not so bad if you have long tube headers. It was a hunch, and fortunately it fixed the problem....I let this go for a couple of weeks and then I was getting false digital readings---301 deg---yikes....expect about 2hrs of work since you can't get but an 1/8 turn to loosen the dang thing. Fixed it two days ago and now all is normal.

I just replaced my temp sender this morning, If you acn get the car on a lift you can change it with A 3/4" deep socket in 5 minutes.
