Default New Header install question

Well I'm going to have the new headers installed on the car seeing as I have no way to get the car high enough off the ground to do it myself.
I have taken it to a couple of shops and they have both told me to go out and buy the Magnaflow cat back system (15658 - Magnaflow Performance GM Car Cat-Back Exhaust Systems) to make the job easier. They are both going to fab up the front part of the exaust. Now all the websites say it is for 86-91's, so will it fit on my 85? They told me they would just have to change the hangers. Anyone know if this will work?

When I installed mine the car was only raised a little bit. About what I do for an oil change. It was pretty easy except for removing the dip stick! If you order a system that needs to have the hangers torched off and yours rewelded on, your adding cost in labor.

That was all included in the price which I thought was very fair. My problem is weather or not the the cat back will work? Thanks for the input.

I would think you would want to adapt the 3" LT1 16837 magnaflow system instead.

The difference is the cat flange. The flange could easily be made by a good exhaust shop and the same goes for the rest of the work.
Nice system for the price.

Default cat back system

You don't need to have a cat back system install when you do your headers, one thing has nothing to do with the other, what you need to do is modify the front y pipe to fit the headers collectors and if you are keeping your cat that is about it, or else you can have the cat gutted or build a "test pipe" a plain piece of tubing with the cat flanges welded to it. regarding the cat back system I have the same set up looks nice sounds ok but don't expect a lot of performance out of it, and if you do get it make sure you have a 2 1/2 y pipe from the collectors
