Default jasper engines?

Anybody ever use one of these engines, or know much about them?

I bought a jasper motor about 7 years ago for my old F250 and as far as I know it's still running. I drove it 100 miles a day round trip to work and used it to pull the snowmobiles every other weekend for 4 years with no trouble at all. I know I put over 100,000 on it trouble free....did change the oil every 2,500 miles like clockwork, I then sold it local and still see it running around.

My motor was rebuilt by Jasper. Usually they like to swap motors, but they were nice enough to rebuild so I could keep my block. My heads were shot so they used Edelbrock heads. I haven't had any trouble from the motor. Jasper has a better name behind them than some of the other companies.

We use Jasper motors in our shop. They do make a very good replacement motor (and transmissions) and have a good warranty program. IIRC, it's now 3 years or 30K miles. All that has to be done to keep the warranty in force is to follow the maintenance schedule which is not really different than what the car maker specified for their motor.

Jasper also has a high performance crate motor line with both long and short blocks in both stock and larger displacement versions.

Jasper has engine building plants all over, so you don't have to wait a long time or pay big shipping charges. When we order a motor, it typically is delivered within two work days if what we need is in stock.

I've heard some good things about them too -- especially for non-performance replacement.

For a budget build, you might also check on GMPP 350 blocks. They're about $1,150.

I have no personal experience , but I have 4 friends that came to grief with Jasper engines and very shortly after installing them. It was determined that the engines were at fault.

I will NEVER buy a Jasper engine again.
Several years ago went the Jasper route for a company BBC work truck.
Dropped engine in, fired up.
Oil POURED out the rear main.
To recieve a replacement engine I had to BUY a second, send 1st back and wait.
6 months later I finally had a refund after my lawyer send a letter.
No refund on my pulling and reinstalling though.

My opinion....absolute junk.
Go with a GM reman or new....

Has anybody ever used Phoenix Engines their prices seem very fair for the horse power claims every engine is custom built and dynoed before it is shipped out and they will rebuild yours or sell you a crate motor. I was considering using them.
