Default cam suggestions????

I got a 94 LT-1 with an exauhts system and a cold air intake. I want to get more power, so i decided to change the cam along with the springs and probably want to go to roller lifters and arms. THIS IS NOT MY DAILY DRIVER, so i can get pretty crazy all to get more RWHP. I hear good thing about "comp cams" With what specs can i get the most hp? I plan on getting some headers and then do a proffesional tune. Thanx

FIRST:
You gotta understand Moore's Law!
Moore's Laws States; If Moore is good, then TOO MUCH should be juuuust about right...

A big lie....you need to coordinate your whole performance package or you'll end up with a car that won't even idle...

if you want a BIG cam, you's better have BIG heads with BIG valves and BIG ports and a BIG exhaust and BIG injectors and a BIG wallet...well, you get the drift...

Call the cam manufacturer of your choice, tell them exactly what you have and what you want it to do and they will help you get there...the smart way...

stock heads with full exhaust/tune i'd run AI's 230/238 575/.575 - 110 LSA cam. Biggest for stock motor and manual trans

Else AI's 226 / 234 - .569/.570 - 110 LSA for an auto. Get a converter to enjoy that power. Should make good power and possibly push that car close to the 11's with great launch and proper gearing

BOth of those are capable of 350whp or more

Comp grind? Try cc503, 224/230. Great LT1 cam and its proven. Another good cam for 340whp or so.

FYI: Your 94 already has roller lifters.

A couple of questions. Do you plan on eventually porting the heads, and is it an auto or manual transmission?

I eventually plan on porting the heads and the intake. Right now i want to get good power with nice sound. And it is manual. I want to leave the stock heads and stock valves.

I called Comp Cams like suggested, and the tech guy said that the biggest he would go would be 220/230 @ 114 lsa 510 lift. He said if i stay at 110 i would have problems tunning?????? The mechanics at my office recomended 226/234 565/565 109 LSA. But he COMP CAMS shoot that down. ???????? any experiences? AGAIN this is not my daily driver.

That's the cam I'm running with an emailed PCMFORLESS tune.

I have made my decision. Well almost. im between these two. Please Help

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...t=07%2D503%2D8

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku

The top one is the milder one. Im debating weather to go with that and latter put some 1.6 rocker if i dont like the outcome. I want to put the cam and new lifters, with out changing or porting anything yet. WHAT DO YALL THINK? THANX A BUNCH

I would pay $30 more to get a custom cam made to do exactly what you want. Cam selection is pretty important. That extra $30 buys you the experience and support of someone that has done many many LT1 setups. LE AI

503 cam is a nice grind for stock heads. Works well with ported heads too. Much more driveable than the 306 cam there. But that 306 cam is a nasty powerhouse in stock headed cars and also works very well on ported heads.

Cant go wrong with either. probly 10-12whp difference between the two on stock heads if you run 1.6 rockers on the 503 cam. On good ported heads however, you may see 20-30whp difference.

If you're going to install roller rockers, don't forget to account for their ratio and the affect on lift at the valve...which will affect what valve springs you need. The stock ratio is 1.5. 1.6 and 1.7 ratios are available.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it looks like you would be better off calling a tuner like LPE, DRM, LE, AI, etc. Tell them how you plan to use the car, what you want regarding power and driveability, etc and then let them pick the parts.
