What is the wire on the side of the distributor that says battery. It is causing electrical problems. Lights, dash, flicker AND the radio cuts out. Once unplugged, everything works flawless. Some kind of electrical interference. What is it, how do I fix it?

Thanks!
That is the power wire to the distributor. With that unplugged the car should not run. I can not explain why everything would work better when the wire is disconnected.
I don't see how that is possible. The Batt wire supplies 12v to the spark control module and comes from the ignition switch. Unless the spark control module is drawing very large current, the normal current draw shouldn't do anything to other accessories. I would suspect a defective ignition switch.
That is the ignition switch, but you really don't know if your switch is defective. It is a possibility but it is better to make some measurements to determine the cause before buying parts. One measurement you could do is to use a test meter to measure the current in the BATT wire on the distributor. I wouldn't expect any more than about 5 amps.
A good electrical test for your ign sw is to measure the voltage from the positive battery terminal to the BATT terminal with the distributor plugged in and ign sw in RUN. You can use a needle to pierce the pink BATT wire to make connection to it. You shouldn't see more than 0.5 volts. Much higher than this and the ign sw is suspect.
