Default Injector problems and more...

Hi,
here's the story...
My car started to run really rough at idle and making a rattling noice from under the car (cats?) when warmed up.
I scanned the car and BLM's were pegged at 108, very rich.
First I replaced the O2-sensor, but it didn't help.
Then I checked the injectors and four of them were around 6-8 ohms.
I replaced the injectors with new Ford/Bosch from FiveO that they told me was a direct replacement part, but now scans show that it's running way lean and it feels "short on power".
And the noice from the new injectors are killing me! It's embarrasing to drive up in a car that sound like it has severe valvetrain issues...
Add that noice to the rattling and it sounds like a diesel farm tractor... :o

About the rattling, could running rich have messed up the cats?

I also need to replace the injectors once more, because I can't stand the ticking noice...
Can someone please recommend a more quiet injector that performs well in my car?

I would really like to be able to enjoy my vette this summer...

I'd say with near certainty that you've got a clogged converter. They rattle like that and choke your power when they go bad. To check for certain, you'll have to test the back pressure at the engine for proper specs.

As for your injectors, I'd talk to Jon at Fuel Injector Connection (Screen name here is FICINJECTORS). He'll give you the straight talk on injectors. He's also posted a sticky in this forum on injectors.

what injectors did you get? probably the pink top fords. If so they are very noisy and no way to quite them down. Look into the bosch 3 that we sell for 169 a set.. But, first make sure why it is lean as those injectors are 22lbs.. Unless a couple are not working. Will five o take them back?

I think they are yellow, but I'm not sure, they might be pink. I'll have to check...
They don't fit properly in the fuelrail, too short, but I haven't had any leaks.
Wouldn't it miss really, really bad if a couple of injectors aren't working?

The thing is that I think it's been more then 3 years since I bought them...
I didn't get around to installing them until probably a year later.
I only drive my vette a few 100 miles every summer, and last summer I almost didn't take it out at all because I couldn't enjoy it like before...
But now I really miss driving it, so I'm going to have it fixed.

Replace the cats and have Jon get you a set of injectors that will make your Vette run like new. Because you don't drive it much, you might have fuel issues so start from the tank and clean everything up.

On my 90 the injectors went bad and I think it damaged the cats as I also had rattling coming from under the car that would go away when the RPMs were raised.

When I removed the cats, the front ones were breaking apart and there were chunks in front of the main cat.

I replaced the system with Flowmaster force 2 for the LT1.

new injectors do not have a long shelf like if not packaged and sealed properly with fluid in them. I guarantee you got at least 2 stuck closed.. While the engine is running try using a stethoscope.. you will hear them all ticking.. If any are suck it will be a faint tick or none at all.. try it.. Anyway get a set of our Bosch 3's. They fit in exactly as the multec and you won't have to worry about injectors anymore.

My car has the same symptoms, except that it only rattles when warmed up.
I'll remove the exhaust to see if I can "clean it out"...

Ok, I've looked and the injectors I have are not pink, they are yellow.
I started the car up and all injectors tick the same, really loud, so I think they're OK...
Looking at my first post I see that I forgot to mention that the injectorswap actually solved most of the running rough problems I originally had, but the car still doesn't feel right.
I'll definitely look into getting a set of Bosch 3 to replace them with so expect a PM from me...

Plugged cat(s) will KILL performance. If your previous injectors were leaking or supplying too much fuel, it will lead to an early death of your cats.
Check them out before you spend anymore time or money.

Followup...

Now I have had some time to spend on the vette...

I removed the exhaust behind the main cat and found that the rattling is caused by the insides of main cat being lose, but in one solid piece, and rattling around in there... I made an "dirty fix" and just stuck a bolt under the ceramic? block to stop i t from moving. It works until it can be fixed properly and I made it through emissions checkup. The next step is to remove the front y-pipe and check the condition of the pre-cats, but for now the vette runs fine.

I have also replaced the crap Ford injectors. I can't even remember when I had this smooth idle...
Thanks Jon @ FIC for the help!

With the Ford injectors the car died for a second or two when the AC-compressor engaged, but now it's barely noticeable.
And the FIC injectors are a LOT quiter. I love it...

Never buy injectors from fiveomotorspots.com. He sells junked injectors.
