I have the same problem after installing my new motor. I could care less about the little MPG meter.....but only the fuel and odo work. Id really like to have my trip back, I can no longer swap between the trip and odo.

Take it back to them. They might of crossed wired something they should not of.
- The installers did it incorrectly or disturbed an unrelated circuit that is monitored by the computer.
- The code is a byproduct of having the keyless installed in the first place. My aftermarket radio, for example, is incompatible with the stock dimming circuit, so I see "SYS" all the time.
- You'll get a lot of bad battery advice. This is certainly possible if they had the car powered on but not running for too long while working on it, or if it was on the way out anyhow.
- The installers are right, and something is malfunctioning which they had nothing to do with.

The link tells you how to find out what that code is. A factory service manual will, in turn, tell what that code means. I'd offer to look it up, but I don't have your year.
There is a similar page at that site with a some more info. I do know that they are not 100% correct for 1996, and thus maybe not for other model years either, but for both of us it should be good enough to cover most of what we need.
Now... the advice to charge and check the battery is good as a first step and frequent fix, but I will say that I have had "SYS" flashing at me since I bought the car, through good batteries and bad. In my case, it is an aftermarket stereo for which the computer doesn't see a dimming circuit, and I haven't bothered to do the fix. There are a host of other things which are monitored similarly.
Anytime something original from the "dash" area is disconnected from the "circuit" it will display this message. Ex. remove the harness from the door chime module, or pke module and the computer senses something is not right, it will then flash 'SYS". It will also do this if you replace the stock radio with something other than stock. It does this to notify you something is wrong, sometimes even if it isn't.
If you search some threads in here you will find a few that address this. I do not know of a way to get rid of this issue other that replacing with stock components but check with the threads on the search and you may have luck. Every once in a while this issue pops up and people will chime in. I remember seeing one like this not too long ago.
