just to test fuel pressure and to see a leak, i hooked up the gauge and turned key to on, let it prime, then off. gauge held at about 42-44.. how long should it hold this? thanks

ideal would be forever, but none do...slow bleed as soon as key is turned off, hold MINIMUM of 10 psi after 12 hour sit w/ key off, will run great / normal... if it drops to '0' in just a few minutes = bad.
I'M not sure on a set time but after you turn the key off you should'nt see any change right away.I have a fuel pressure gauge and i'd quess it holds for a good 5-10min maybe more.I never timed it.
hey guys, if you lost 8 PSI after FPR change would you consider it a bad FPR and get a new one?
Do you mean you are now reading 8 PSI less than you were before, or you lose 8 PSI rapidly when performing a leakdown test? Also, are you reading at the rail or on the FPR?
Dosen't sound right. Try checking it with the car running and the vac line to the FPR off you should see a 4lb to 5lb jump. You might just have a bad unit.
hooking my fuel pressure tester up to the schroeder.. it reads 35 psi now. before i changed the FPR it read 42-43
If you replaced the OEM regulator with an aftermarket adjustable FPR, then it sounds like it needs adjusting...not a big deal. It's it's not an adjustable FPR, then it's likely bad. Check for raw fuel in the vacuum line that connects to the FPR. Should be none. If there is any, the FPR is bad.
new one is clean in the vacuum line. thats why i replaced it, the old was leaking and causing long starts. this one just took my fuel pressure im assuming. going to get another and see what gives.
