My 1994 has the Delco Bose Gold unit with both cassette player and CD player. When I try to load a CD it will not load. I can push the CD in manually but have trouble ejecting the disk. When I get the CD loaded it does not play. I can get it to eject by turning the radio off and turning it back on while holding the eject button.
The radio plays fine. On the display in radio mode there are the letters
SCV in the lower right hand corner. I don't see any reference to these letters in the FSM.
depends on how much you want to spend. And it's not a plug in replacement. Difference in the speaker impedance and On board amps makes it a little more work.
you can go with a single DIN unit with the mantra install kit. I bought a Kenwood KDCMP342U
you will need the rec box bypass wiring harness. On my 90 I had to do a resistor bypass to keep the SES light from coming on.
You should replace the speakers because of the impedance issue.
Most people have done what you are thinking about doing.
If you are going to do it let me Know I will walk you through it
Call Dr Don's - he is awesome! He'll install a new CD in your radio that will take homemade burned CDs. I've used him twice (different C4s) and highly recommend. Call him and describe what you're experiencing. He provides super fast shipping and the radio is refurbished to like-new condition! http://www.doctordons.com/
